Interior Design Show 2017 Highlights

Interior Design Show 2017 Highlights

The Interior Design Show (IDS) 2017 took place in Toronto earlier this month at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. IDS is a great place to gather inspiration and discover new products for the home. A handful of these new products were innovative, beautiful and functional and needed to be shared with those who couldn't attend this year's show. Here we're rounding up the products we loved.

NIKA ZUPANC FOR SOUTH HILL HOME

This Stay Lounge Armchair from the Sé collection by designer Nika Zupanc, sold through South Hill Home, pushes the limits of traditional lounge and dining furniture. Its oversized arms and back are whimsical, something you might expect to find at the Mad Hatter's tea party, but elegant enough to be incorporated into any modern setting.

TILE BY SURFACES & CO.

Proof that the gold trend isn't leaving us anytime soon (thankfully!), Surfaces & Co. had a well-attended booth that made it difficult to take a photo of all the gorgeous, gold-infused tiles they had on display! The favourites here were the mosaic tiles.

DEAN JACKSON DESIGNS

In the Studio North marketplace at IDS, I was drawn to the custom design work of Dean Jackson. He creates one of a kind pods (AeroPods, AstroPods, DecoPods) to store pretty much anything you can imagine - on display he had with him his Martini Pod for the cocktail lover, his Aficionado Pod, a humidor for the cigar enthusiast, and several of his wall pods for storing collections in a beautiful way.

JANETTE EWEN FOR MOBILIA

Created in collaboration with designer and interior stylist Janette Ewen, the Roaring Twenties collection at Mobilia offers all the glam and sophistication of the Gatsby era. There isn't a single piece in this collection that I didn't love, but the ones that really stood out were the marble-backed room divider with mirror, the gold + velvet table and ottoman sets, the colourful, lacquered barmoires, and the cage-like framed metal and velvet accent chairs.
