Summer Reading List
There's still plenty of time left this summer to soak up the sun while reading a good book! Here are some suggestions:
From the author of The Vacationers (another great summer read if you didn't already read it last year!), Modern Lovers follows the lives of a close group of friends since their college days and their teenage children who are coming into their own identities with each other.
I haven't read this one yet but it sounds fun and intriguing: a novel about two strangers who form an unexpected friendship and change each other's lives - and all of this done over weekly dinners together. I'm a sucker for any novel that incorporates food writing!
A story of family tension and trouble, The Nest follows the lives of four adult siblings when the changed fate of their shared inheritance has them questioning the futures they planned for themselves.
This is by no means a light read, but an important one. At the young age of 36, the author, a neurosurgeon about to complete 10 years of study, was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer. His book explores his transformation from doctor to patient, all the while questioning what makes a meaningful life. Paul's memoir is so beautifully written, poetic in its composition and heartbreaking in its reality.
