"Who are you wearing?" This commonly asked question of red carpets past was noticeably absent as the leading question during this year's Oscar red carpet interviews. This is a result of Reese Witherspoon's #AskHerMore campaign, a movement she started to shift the conversation on the red carpet and give actresses the opportunity to discuss their work. "We are more than just our dresses" Reese stated last night. She acknowledged that the dresses are beautiful and that she and her fellow actresses love the artists who make the clothes, but they are also happy to be talking about the work they've done. It's the best of both worlds when both the stunning dresses and the talented actresses wearing them are celebrated equally.
Since fashion is still very much an influential part of the evening, here is my round-up of the best dressed, starting with Reese; she looked so elegant in her custom Tom Ford silk ice-blue gown with black velvet border.
Lupito Nyong'o never disappoints. Last night she wore this custom Calvin Klein Collection made with pearls.
Chartreuse is such a perfect colour on Emma Stone. She looked incredible in this Elie Saab gown.
Jennifer Lopez also wore Elie Saab. Normally seen in form-fitting dresses, J-Lo changes things up with an elegant, full-skirted gown while maintaining her signature plunging neckline.
Chrissy Teigen had legs for miles in this Zuhair Murad gown.
The Swarovski crystal-embroidered collar added wow factor to this stunning Atelier Versace gown worn by Scarlett Johansson.
We can't leave out the men! How handsome was Eddie Redmayne in his navy Alexander McQueen tuxedo?
Michael Keaton looked dapper in Ralph Lauren Black Label.
Common stood out in a velvet Prada tuxedo with white bow tie.
